The School of Economics and Management of Southeast University was established in August 1987 and its history dates back to the Business Department of Nanjing Higher Normal School in 1917. After 30 years since its establishment, the business school was renamed the School of Economics and Management and became one of the schools in Southeast University. With a slogan of only innovation has the future, the school takes the responsibilities for educating the talents who shape the world, cultivating scholars promotes professionalism and creativity”. School of Economics and Management is devoted to constructing a comprehensive curriculum system, training outstanding talents, and making scientific research improvements. In order to achieve the goal of cultivating top-notch innovative talents, the school continues promoting the high-quality development of curriculum construction, talent training, teaching staff’s research skills, social services, and cooperation with world-leading universities.

 

    The School of Economics and Management has three national first-class academic discipline doctoral programs, including Management Science and Engineering, Applied Economics, and Business Administration. Management Science and Engineering and Applied Economics are two first-class academic disciplines with post-doctoral mobile stations and are also appointed as key advantage construction disciplines in Jiangsu Province. The School of Economics and Management also has three first-class discipline master's degree authorization points in Management Science and Engineering, Applied Economics and Business Administration, and many fields of undergraduate majors in Management (Information Management and Information Systems, Business Administration, Accounting, E-commerce, Logistics Management) and Economics (International Economics and Trade, Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering).

 

    The School of Economics and Management makes effort to strengthen academic discipline construction. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation in 2017, Management Science and Engineering was rated A- (national top 10%), Applied Economics was rated B+ (national top 20%), and Business Administration was rated B (national top 30%).

 

    The School of Economics and Management adheres to the fundamental task of strengthening moral education. The school has more than 1080 full-time undergraduate students, more than 530 postgraduate students, more than 240 doctoral students, and more than 1300 on-the-job MBA, EMBA, MPACC, and other professional degree graduate students.

 

    The School of Economics and Management has a number of high-level teaching and scientific research teams, with more than 120 full-time teaching staff, including over 40 professors and more than 60 associate professors. There is a large number of well-known scholars such as Professor Sheng Hua. The School of Economics and Management has 1 Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, 8 New Century Excellent Talents, 1 recipient of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 2 recipients of Excellent Young Scientists Fund, 2 top-notch young talents in the philosophy and social science category of the national Ten Thousand Talents Plan, 1 young talent of propaganda ideology and culture of the Central Propaganda Department, and 4 members of the Professional Teaching Steering Committee of Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education (including 1 vice-chairman). There are 1 famous social science expert in the third session of Jiangsu Province, 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions to Jiangsu Province, 11 outstanding talents at the second and third levels of the 333 project in Jiangsu Province, 1 senior professor of humanities, 3 chief professors, 2 young chief professors, 5 distinguished professors, and 1 young distinguished professor, and more than 10 people who have been selected into the Southeast University Zhishan Young Scholars Support Program. The school also employs a number of well-known scholars from other Universities in China and abroad as visiting professors and part-time professors.

 

    The School of Economics and Management has attached great importance to international collaboration and has established long-term relationships with more than 30 foreign universities, such as Monash University Suzhou United Graduate School and Southeast University-University of Rennes 1 graduate school. The school invited world-class experts and scholars, including Nobel Prize winners, to give speeches. It has built more than 30 bilingual courses and courses taught in English, covering almost all undergraduate majors. In the past five years, the school has sent more than 30 teachers abroad (or outside mainland China) to participate in international academic conferences, and students are provided with opportunities to go abroad for further study via exchange programs. International vision has become an important educational philosophy for the School of Economics and Management in Southeast University.
