Eighth Army Ranks

Marshal: Beck Casey
General:
Lieutenant:
Sergeant: Keiran Zanetti, Bradley Reeves
Private: Nicolas Harper-Flynn, Sebastian O'Kelle, Jack Yorke, Leigh Delaney, Alec Cartwright, Gwen Everett, Wrench (NPC), Tobias Kazlov (NPC)
Honouraries:

Information

The Eighth Army is mainly made up of ex military and law enforcement, which is why they are easily the most powerful Sect in Adlai. People wishing to sign up as a Belsa (A name that came from another suggested name for the group, Rebelsapien,) must have some kind of experience which makes them useful, otherwise they are just using up supplies. Of course, they will do anything they can to help someone, but housing strays is a rare occurrence, mostly they will send them over to the A.I.

The Eighth Army is easily the most protected group, as they are the ones who flout the power of the Adveni the most. Being Eighth Army gives you an all access ticket to Lyndbury Compound and the Gallows.

Most of the Belsa live in military style accommodation in the Subway City line tunnels, as there are only so many ways in, so it can be highly protected.

History

The name Eighth Army would have been a funny story if it weren't under such serious circumstances. When the founders were trying to think of a name, there was much debate over what it should be. Most agreed that it should be something that recognised us as humans, and the reason they were fighting. The name Homo Erectus was thrown out because some female activists involved thought the word 'Erectus' was too inclined towards men, and wasn't the reason they were doing this to be treated as equals? Then, Homosapien was suggested, but a number of the less 'open' members of the group didn't like being referred to as 'homos', so that idea was tossed too.

No one knows who suggested Eighth Army, or even if they really intended to use it, but soon it was the name everyone knew them as. It had stuck, and there was nothing they could do about it, so they went with it. It is said that it is to represent the Militaries of each continent, and that now they were fighting together, they were the eighth.

The founder of the group, Kenneth Poole, was publicly executed in Javeknell Square on New Years Day, a message from the Adveni leaders that the New Year saw a new order, but in the back streets, underground, people of Adlai know the Eighth Army still exist.

After the flooding of the subway tunnels, the Eighth Army lost a lot of members. Stripped back to the bones, they took over the Baymont Motel out near the Northfelds Mall, where they continue to fight.

Rank Descriptions
QUOTE

Honouraries: Eighth Army members who cannot fight and have no tactical uses. These usually involve family members of Eighth Army members, especially those under the age of 18. Honouraries are generally asked to help with non fighting or defence jobs.

Private: New recruit or trainee. Everyone fresh into the Eighth would probably start here, regardless of past experience. If they've done combat before and prove themselves useful, they may be promoted a lot quicker.

Sergeant: An NCO rank given to a private who shows proficiency and leadership skills above his peers. A sergeant is usually in charge of a squad of three or four men (including himself), and will take orders from the Lieutenant.

Lieutenant: A lieutenant is in charge of a platoon, which consists of up to five squads (anywhere from 15 to 25 soldiers). Lieutenants are commissioned officers, which means they need to be appointed and promoted by the The Marshall or one of the Generals.

General: A General is in charge of a company; which is two to three platoons (between 30 and 50 men). He'll give orders through lieutenants, and would probably be in more of a tactical role. He also deals more directly with the Marshall, and is responsible for the more serious punishment of lower ranked soldiers.

Marshal: The Leader of the Eighth Army.

No, it doesn't stand for the Artificial Intelligence.

A.I. Ranks

Leaders: David Prince
Group Captains: Darren Mitchell
Doctors: Holly Larson,
General Members: Jacob Stone, Denise Stone,
Fledgling Members:

Information

The A.I are the Sect that are most likely to take in untrained individuals. Where most sects will look for a member to have some kind of skill, the A.I will help anyone in need, and knowing this, the other Sects give them a lot of respect. Many A.I's are previous members of other aid foundations, or charity workers, who specialised in medical aid, so, even other sects like the Eighth Army will send members over to get stitched up if they need it, usually bringing some kind of trade in information or supplies in exchange for A.I help.

The A.I has two leaders in Adlai, as they feel this stops one individual getting power hungry. It is also run as much like a democracy as they can manage. Members, once with the A.I for three months, get a vote. Before then, you are a guest of the Sect, and do not have say in operations.

The A.I is the only Sect still with ties to operations in other cities, and while they are officially an illegal group, the Adveni know and allow their presence because they do a lot of medical work for humans. Only if the A.I are believed to be housing a fugitive bound for death will the Adveni attempt to flush them out.

History

You actually probably already know of this group, but they previously went by Amnesty International, a charity/organisation who dealt with human rights for all. Well, that's still what they do, but they no longer have rich people giving them lots of money to do it. Instead of being a job, A.I is now a way of life, helping those who need it.

The A.I. moved to the tunnels when the Eighth Army went underground, using the protection the Eighth could help them with, they have close links with the Eighth and offer medical help to soldiers whenever they can.

Since the flooding of the subway tunnels, the A.I have moved into an apartment block in the Human Camps, 195 Cedar. Charlotte Lockeby, one of the Sect's leaders, was killed in the Adveni attack against the sects, so currently, David Prince is their only leader.

The A.I and the Adveni

In the information, you will see that it says the A.I is more accepted by the Adveni because of how much they help other humans (which mean the Adveni don't have to.) This does not mean A.I members should go around shouting that they are A.I. If you are discovered as an A.I member, you will still be carted off to Lyndbury Compound and made an example of. What 'more accepting' means, is that the Adveni don't actively seek out members of the A.I like they do with the Eighth Army and Chemical Cartel. Human hunters are not given the names and faces of A.I members to hunt down unless they do something specifically against the Adveni.
Remember, the A.I is still a rebel group, they may be more 'help orientated' - but the amount of ties they have to the Eighth Army, by joining the A.I, you are still looking at a death sentence if caught, just like with the other sects.

QUOTE

Leaders: In control of the A.I. Leaders are voted into position, but there are always two, as it is felt this is fairer. Leaders will liaise with groups in other cities when they can.

Group Captains: Group Captains are in charge of lower members of the Sect and general organisation. They will liaise with the Leaders to maintain order and the smooth running of the group.

Doctors: Previously medically trained, Doctors work in the Hospital Train Car to help whoever needs it.

General Members: People who have been with the A.I. for more than three months and have proven themselves useful.

Fledgling Members: Fledglings are often those who are injured or in hiding and are given protection by the A.I. If they decide to stay with the Sect, they become fully fledged members after three months and are given a say in A.I operations.

Chemical Cartel Ranks

Boss: Ray Ashe
Crew Leader: Jason Regnier
Soldier: Bram Harker, Edward Knox

Information

The Cartel are the people to ask if you need something that used to be illegal. Whether it is illegal now is irrelevant, they can still get it for you, and it's not proven, but it's likely that all drug dealers in Adlai are at least connected to the Cartel, after all, all drug dealers have to get their product from somewhere.

The Cartel don't only deal in drugs, they deal in weaponry, information, and will act as mercenaries for the highest bidder.

Before the flooding of the subway tunnels on November 18th, 2014, the Cartel had their headquarters at The Junkyard in the part of the subway tunnels nicknamed the 'Underwater Line' where much of the Cartel's goods were stored.

After the Sects were run out of the tunnels, the Cartel has relocated to Kaplar & Green Fabrics Factory in the Oprust District, a three story building that had been mostly abandoned since the invasion. With the Cartel moved in, the former factory is being reshaped to make space for both stores and homes for Cartel members.

History

The Chemical Cartel, (mainly called 'Cartel') was nicknamed because most of the members started off as drug dealers, specialising in chemically created products.

Where drug dealers used to fight in turf wars and other petty arguments, they banded together after the arrival of the Adveni, using each other for supplies, and organising amongst themselves to keep their products running. Bigger suppliers soon became people to rally around, and drug dealers, previously working for themselves, were working as a group under a single supplier.

Soon it became clear that drugs was not the only thing these bigger suppliers had access to. With the right contacts, they could get not only drugs, but weapons, rare items, and information. As the suppliers became more organised, they began dealing amongst themselves before dealing to general public, and soon, they were a singular large unit known as the Chemical Cartel.

As the Cartel became bigger, more non drug related members joined, dealing in things other than pharmaceuticals, or protecting those making the deals. After a while, despite their reputation, the Cartel became like any other sect... just one that had more access to things than the other Sects.

Leadership of the Cartel has changed a few times since it was united in a single group. After the first Boss, Gothika Melantha was killed in early September of 2014, Montgomery Patton took over though he was not a member of the Cartel up till then. Many people were angered by this take-over by an outsider, but Patton held fast until he was killed by Ray Ashe during the flooding of the tunnels on November 18th, 2014.

Boss: The Head of the Cartel. If you want to make a big sale and need fronting, you need to contact the Boss. He will also deal with large sales to the other Sects.

Crew Leader: In charge of groups of soldiers, Crew Leaders will help members make bigger sales by fronting them the cash or goods until the deal can be made. Crew Leaders are also responsible for punishment if any Soldier is caught doing things outside Cartel rules.

Soldier: General Cartel members, Soldiers will mostly work as vendors, making sales and buys from people outside the sects.
